Mel Harris, Patty Weisbrich Win Bronze Amateur Golf Tourney

Mel Harris of Minneapolis and Patty Weisbrich, Lakeville won the 31st annual Upper Midwest Bronze Amateur Golf Championship for men and women with Sunday total scores of 74 and 86 respectively and 36 hole totals of 146 (even par) and 177.

Harris finished the two day tourney with a two stroke margin over second place finisher Bob Kieberg who had Sunday's lowest round of 72 for the second and final day. Patty Weisbrich edged defending champion Karen Eide to win the lady's crown. The Tourney played at Hiawatha Golf Course had over 250 golfers from many parts of the USA as well as locally with near perfect weather Saturday. Sunday's play was halted for over one hour because of rain, but the early round golfers returned to the competition.
