TWIN CITIAN WINS GOLF MEET
Tommy Donaldson, Mill Citian
Cops Central States Golf Crown
Minneapolis Spokeman, August 26, 1938
In what turned out to be the most outstanding sporting, as well as social event of the Twin City season,
the Central-States Golf Tournament last Sunday at Hiawatha course in Minneapolis named a new 1938 champion and
that person was none other than Tommy Donaldson, pill swatting youngster from Minneapolis.
Runner-up was the versatile sports scribe of this paper, Jimmy Lee of St. Paul.
With the weather ideal, and a faint southwest breeze, Don Brady, Sr., was the first to tee off in the first foursome at 6:30 a. m.
Thereafter a foursome teed off every 5 minutes until the fifty players
entered in the tournament had started on the way to that first hole with the knowledge that it was for better or worse.
A large gallery of local golf fans (and I must'nt forget the boy fans) as well as many out-of-towners gathered for the meet.
Cities represented from throughout the central-states were
Minneapolis, St. Paul, Kansas City, St. Louis, Des Moines, Omaha, Duluth, Sioux Falls, S. D. and Topeka, Kan.
