Financial myth. Costs millions to repair.
The MPRB stated that Hiawatha Golf Course costs $4 million in lost revenue and repairs each time it floods.
- Our calculations indicate that, for the 2014 flood, lost revenue was $558,000, and repair costs were minimal (pumping water from the golf course and reseeding the fairways).
- Lost revenue could have been less if repairs to the back 9 were done immediately. Were the repairs to the back 9 slowed so that the MPRB could get FEMA money (which was never used for repair of the golf course)?
